The Spice Of Life

The Spice Of Life

Today, while I lovingly prepared a mouthwatering lamb curry for my family, paying special attention to my stolen son (my nephew but that is a story I'll save for another time), the tantalizing scents of spices transported me to a different era – a reminiscent journey back to 18th-century Bombay, now known as Mumbai. (As I describe it in my book "Journey of Love")

In my mind's eye, I could envision the colonial architecture gracing Bombay's streets and the vibrant hustle and bustle of its markets. It was as if I could feel the echoes of long-forgotten trade routes carried by the spice-laden sea breeze, promising adventures and opportunities. The vivid imagery of exotic silks, fragrant spices, and precious gems changing hands in bustling bazaars painted a picture of opulence and mystique.

India, a land of astounding beauty and complexity, reveals its true essence to those with open hearts and open minds. It's a place where the rich tapestry of culture and history intertwines seamlessly, leaving an indelible mark on the soul.

In my book, "The Journey of Love," I delve into the experiences of James, one of the main characters, and his friend Nicolas as they immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of Bombay. India has a unique way of embedding itself in one's soul, and despite having visited only twice in my lifetime, I can attest to the profound connection it forms with those fortunate enough to experience its magic.
